Android Phone Compatibility (India)
This page helps you choose an Android phone that works reliably with the GlucoRx CGM app. Continuous glucose monitoring depends on a stable Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection, including in the background.
How we classify compatibility
- Tested compatible – We have verified this specific model during internal testing with real CGM usage scenarios.
- Recommended – Typically offers the most reliable background BLE performance and fewer battery-management interruptions.
- Supported with additional setup – Works for many users, but may require battery/background settings changes due to manufacturer power management.
Best choice (Recommended)
If you are purchasing a phone mainly for CGM use, start with these families. They are generally the most consistent for long-running BLE connections.
| Brand / Family | Android version | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel (Pixel 3 / 3a and newer) | Android 9+ | Recommended |
| Motorola (Moto G / Edge lines) | Android 9+ | Recommended |
| Nokia / Near-stock Android | Android 9+ | Recommended |
| Samsung Galaxy (S / A / M series) | Android 9+ | Recommended (with setup below) |
Device tip: For best CGM performance, we recommend a phone with 4GB RAM or more and keeping Android updated.
Supported with additional setup (common in India)
These brands are widely used in India and can work well, but many models require additional battery/background settings to prevent Bluetooth disconnects.
| Brand / UI | What you may need to do | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO (MIUI / HyperOS) | Set the app to No restrictions/Unrestricted, allow background activity, and avoid “battery saver” while using CGM. | Supported with setup |
| realme (realme UI) | Set battery to No restrictions (where available) and allow background running. | Supported with setup |
| OPPO (ColorOS) | Disable battery optimization for the app and allow background activity. | Supported with setup |
| Vivo / iQOO (Funtouch OS) | Allow background activity and disable battery restrictions for the app. | Supported with setup |
| OnePlus (OxygenOS) | Set battery to Unrestricted/No restrictions and allow background activity. | Supported with setup |
Required setup (do this first)
- Enable Bluetooth and keep it on.
- Grant permissions requested by the app (Bluetooth, Notifications, and Location if required by your Android version).
-
Turn off battery optimization for the GlucoRx CGM app:
- Settings → Apps → (GlucoRx CGM App) → Battery → choose Unrestricted / No restrictions (wording varies by phone).
- Allow background activity (if your phone provides a toggle).
- Avoid Battery Saver while you need continuous readings.
Troubleshooting disconnects
- Toggle Bluetooth off/on and reopen the app to reconnect.
- Restart the phone if the sensor does not reconnect after returning to range.
- Update the app and your phone to the latest available versions.
- Avoid third-party “cleaner/booster” apps which can stop background services.
Compatibility disclaimer
Android phones vary by manufacturer, model, Android version, and regional firmware. While we aim for broad compatibility, background connectivity can be affected by device-specific battery and system management features, Android updates, and user settings. For best results, use a Recommended phone and complete the setup steps above.
We continually expand our Tested compatible list based on internal testing and real-world feedback.
